You are invited to join our Circle of Friends

Everyone agrees that new friends are the best of the good things the College Club offers. But there is whole lot more:

* Weekly program luncheons

* Monthly dinners

* Bridge

* Book Club

* Special Events

* Field Trips

Our catered luncheon and dinner programs feature knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics: the arts, civic matters, travel, education, health, musical performances, and other forms of entertainment. Our bridge calendar includes flight tournaments, duplicate and bridge luncheons. We also offer field trips to a variety of cultural destinations.

Located in the heart of old Buffalo, our historic clubhouse has been a neighborhood landmark and an architectural treasure for nearly a century.

Today it stands ready to enhance your life as it has for so many others throughout the years.

THEN ….

The College Club of Buffalo was founded in 1914 by and for female college graduates, a rarity in that era. Within a few years the club purchased its present clubhouse, a white columned red brick mansion of the late Georgian Revival style. It was designed by local architects Lansing and Bierl for Philip Sherwood, director of the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy (predecessor of Albright – Knox). The building's distinctive elegance received national recognition in a 1906 issue of Town & Country magazine. Today it serves as our social home, as well as a residence for newcomers to the area, foreign and graduate students and visitors.

…. and NOW

The College Club has broadened its goals and membership base to meet the new and growing needs of our generation. Today, a college degree is not a requisite for membership. Our members are mature women coming from widely different backgrounds, but all share a commitment to education as well as an interest in cultural and civic improvement. You’ll find the Club a brimming reservoir of warm friendships, stimulating ideas and rewarding experiences. There is always good food, a lot of laughter and engaging conversations.

Interested in being a member? There is no initiation fee required to become a member of the College Club. The dues are $350.00 paid either annually on April 1st or semi-annually on April 1st and October 1st. Our dues support an annual college scholarship program and provide for the maintenance of the house. Be our guest at one of our programs or bridge luncheons and discover the pleasure of joining the ranks of our “Circle of Friends.”

If you have questions or want to make a reservation call Carolann at 883-4482 .
